Reviews about Macbeth
At the beginning of the 17th century,William Shakespeare wrote one of the most famous plays in the world - Macbeth.
Last Saturday,we saw this play adapted by Ariane Mnouchkine. She is the stage director of the Theatre du Soleil at the Cartoucherie de Vincennes. In her theatre, this woman welcomes different actors ans actresses from different nationalities (we heard during the performance some accents). There was a musician who was in charge of sound effects, they were very well done and he was very professional.
This play tells the story of a man called Macbeth who absolutely wants to become the king of Scotland. He killed Duncan, who was the king before being killed. Then, he orders the murderers to kill his friend Banquo who could inherit the throne. At the end, Macbeth is killed by Macduff because everyone discovers his true face.He was manipulated by his wife, who was kiled too,and by the witches.
To my mind, the actors and actresses are very talented. It is set at different periods of time,so it's very interesting.Sound effects are outstanding. The scenery is breathtaking.Costumes are unbelievable.
My favourite actress is the woman who played the doorman. She was awesome. We laughed a lot. However,I think the play is too long.
I think people should go and see it because it's very interesting and it improuves your general knowledge. The context is not the same as in the original play. So we think that it's very good to see it.
A Review about Macbeth
I have already been to the theater twice. I saw a musical "Mamma Mia" and a one-man show. I loved the energy and the interpretation of the actors of "Mamma Mia". However the decorations were not enough present for my taste. I would like to see a musical again because the atmosphere in the theater is joyful. There are a lot of songs and choreographies. I would not like to see a play where the actors are not interested in their characters or a play without a particular plot.
Saturday, October 11, we went to the Théâtre du Soleil, which is located in the old cortridge factory (Cartoucherie) in Vincennes, to see an adaptation of Macbeth. Macbeth is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare in the seventeen century. The stage director of this play is Ariane Mnouchkine, who has already worked on Shakespeare's plays in the past. The role of Macbeth is played by Serge Nicolai and Lady Macbeth by Nirupuma Nityanandan. A musician Jean-Jacques Lemêtre plays live.
Macbeth is a play about ambition, fate and treachery. Macbeth a Scottish general met three witches who told him he would become Lord of Crawdor and the king. The first prediction came true. After speaking with his wife about the witches and the predictions, Lady Macbeth made him murder King Duncan. She was power-hungry. Macbeth became the king of Scotland. Then he committed a serie of crimes. His wife, turning into madness committed suicide. The reign of Macbeth didn't last long because some people raised a revolt against him. He was killed by Macduff, a man not born of a woman but by caesarian.
To my mind the musician who played various instruments at the right of the stage was really gifted and the music matched what was happening on stage very well. His music was interesting and dynamic. The costumes and the makeup were elaborate. For example the witches had puppets. They were very different according to the character. The combination of time was amusing. The scenery changed almost at every scene with an extraordinary rapidity. The play of lights was amazing. I think that the actors interpreted their character very well especially those of Macbeth or Lady Macbeth who had to play various feelings, joy as well as madness. We could see that there were less experienced actors but I enjoyed that Ariane Mnouchkine gave a chance to everyone.
To conclude, there are many good sides like the music and certainly the scenery. An unexpected thing is that before the performance we could see what was happening on backstage. In my opinion the only bad side were the unconfortable seats. To answer the question : "Should people go or not go and see it ?", I would say yes absolutely. The actors are very talented and the play is awesome.
I have already seen A Midsummer Night's Dream ,Le Malade imaginaire and Rhinoceros.
They are two very interesting plays.I enjoyed to watch them.
I want to see 'L'Avare and Don Juan.I like to watch plays that I study in class because I can understand them better.I think it's important to go to the theatre to improve our general knowledge.
A Review about Macbeth
I take extra drama lessons. So this year I'm going to go see plays regularly. I saw one recently. It was Spleenorama by Bertrand Belin and Marc Lainé. It was a musical drama about a rock band. The actors alternated the play with moments when they played music live.
I like when there is action on stage. When there are effects such as in Macbeth.
Last Saturday we went to the theatre to see an adaptation of Macbeth. Macbeth is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare in the seventeenth century. The stage director of this play is Ariane Mnouchkine. It was not the first time she staged a play by Shakespeare. The play was performed in her theatre, le Théâtre du Soleil in the old cartridge factory (Cartoucherie).
Macbeth is a play dealing with ambition and contradiction. It is about the lord of Glamis, Macbeth. At the beginning he met three witches who told him he would become king, which indeed happened. After talking with his wife, Lady Macbeth, she made him murder the king and take his place. So, the third prediction of the three witches came true. The reign of Macbeth, because he felt scared and guilty didn't last long. Macbeth raised a revolt, and is murdered in the castle of Dunsinane by Macduff, whose family was killed under his reign.
At the right of the stage we could see a lady playing various instruments. The music was very nice, lively ans dynamic and it accompanied what was happening on stage. Before the performance started we could see what was happening backstage, it was very interesting and unexpected. We had never seen this before. Another interesting thing was the ancient and modern settings, for instance witches had a laptop. The costumes were interesting too. Witches had puppets. We also enjoyed the acting and the play of lights which were amazing.
To conclude, this play was absolutely amazing for us and we think the only bad side was the uncomfortable seats cause we had backaches. Adding to that, the makeup was very impressive and elaborate. To answer the question should people go or not go and see it ? - we all agree, yes absolutely ! This is a play not to be missed.
On Saturday, October 11th, 2014 we went to “the Theatre du Soleil, which is in “La Cartoucherie de Vincennes”, to see a play by William Shakespeare, “Macbeth” directed by Arianne Mnouchkine. After a victorious battle, Macbeth, the general of the army of the king and his friend Banquo, meet three witches who predict the future of the two friends. They reveal to him that he is already lord of Cawdor, and he will become king. The witches show to Banquo that he will head a line of kings without being a king. Macbeth, encouraged by his wife, commits a series of murders because of his thirst for power.
Ariane Mnouchkine adapted this play extremely well. The sound effects are very well done, and are created by a single person. The setting is beautiful, varied and colorful. The actors can change the furniture and set in a few seconds. It is very dynamic and amazing to see. In this play I liked the “modern” side, with the guns, the helicopters, the computers etc… because it makes the play dynamic. I liked the actors, especially Macbeth, because he plays this role very well and also the porter, because he is very funny. My favourite scene was the scene with the ghost of Banquo, the actor’s acting was very good, and we could see that Macbeth was frightened, Banquo looked like a real ghost. I think that people should go and see it. The only wrong side is that the play is a bit long, it can be boring sometimes.
It’s the first time I went to see a play at the theater. It was very impressive, I thought it would be worse.
